The DSX is a 21st century PBX/PABX System aimed at the Small to Medium Enterprise. (SME).
It is designed to enable the SME to connect their office to the global telephone network via their existing legacy analogue (POTS) or digital (ISDN) telephone connections, and provide a "phones on desks" solution with all the usual facilities that one would expect from a modern PBX system. ie. Voicemail, Call Forwarding, Diverting, Speed Dials, Music on hold, Call-Groups, Hunt-Groups, Queues, Auto-Attendants, and so on.
It comes in a variety of cases to suit your office needs - 1U rack mount, wall mount, or desktop cases are available for the DSX-1x series (up to 120 extensions). The DSX-2x (120+ extensions) is supplied in a 3U rack-mount case.
The DSX is VoIP Enabled as standard. This will immediately allow for home or remote working, or connecting remote offices to the main office via the Internet, allowing free Internet calls to home/remote staff or between offices, and pave the way to reducing your phone bills by using Internet connected telephony providers. New numbers can be allocated for more incoming lines and then can be delivered over your broadband Internet connection which can be a very cost-effective way to increase capacity as a small business grows.
There are many types of telephone handset available. The DSX uses industry standard SIP and IAX protocols, so any device which supports either of these should be compatible, but the ones which you can see with the link above are ones we have personally tested and recommend.
Additional features which come as standard include configuration via a web interface, voicemail delivered by email, and voicemail access via a web interface. There is a simple auto-attendant facility, and multi-user conference calling. It even has a built-in dictation machine!
In addition to connecting to legacy PSTN equipment (ie. standard BT analogue or ISDN connections), it has the ability to use the latest Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems to let you take your phone with you and use it wherever you have a broadband connection. This could be in your home-office, at the airport or train station waiting for your next business connection, hotel, etc. Your office phone moves with you, and you can stay in-touch with your colleagues at all times.
The VoIP side of things can be expanded to connect to other offices via the Internet, so SMEs running over multiple sites can use the Internet to connect multiple sites together, or just have a single phone in a small remote office.
Various models of DSX are available - from a small single-site units which can handle up to 120 extensions, right up to multi-site units handling 100s or even 1000s of extensions.
The entry level unit is designed as a low-power unit - typically consuming less than 25W which makes it attractive to the energy conscious office. It also has no moving parts to go wrong. All the voicemail and other data is stored in non-volatile memory.
